ELECTION 2011

Close but yet so far.

I would like to thank everyone who voted for me on Thursday 5 May in the local election. Unfortunately, we did not win, but we came closer than anyone since we last won the seat in 1992.

Although the Liberals polled 1345 to my 1048, we did have a 30% swing, which is encouraging. We could call for the inclusion of the Alternative Vote, as the Liberals didn’t achieve the magic 50%, polling 48%, but I don’t hear the call from Cynthia, Malcolm or Dan!

The big success is that the Conservatives do hold the power at the council with 30 seats, an increase of 2, Liberals have 21 and the Independents have 4 seats.

It will not end here. I have heard and learnt a lot whilst canvassing, highlighting how the Liberals are not working for the people of Allington. I am now taking several projects forward and will report back.

If the Liberals thought they had a hard fight this year, it may be the time to retire as I intend winning next year.

Best wishes
